Jan 25 - 31 - KATHY ARRIVES

Sunday Jan 25^th – Kathy and Tyler arrive..  Pick them up in the dingy.. Over to the boat for dinner

Taking Kathy and Tyler around the island…  some activites included renting a car for a few days.. 

 

Monday – Lasonia night… Eelco was supposed to come but didn’t make it.

 

Tue – picked up a rental car..  Brendan and Tyler dropped me off at the pink tug..  I met them back at the French bakery with the car.

Went to Orient Bay for a beach day.. – stopped in grand case on the way back for martigras night.

 

Thursday – Up to Marigot, walking around.. Brendan checked out a rental boat..  Had a beer with SnowWhite – Over to zip lining..  GREAT TIME..  Brendan, Tyler, Allie and Timbo swung through the trees for a couple hours..

 

Friday – decided to Kept the car another day… 747 came in and we went to sea it..  found an awesome Mexican place…

Went grocery shopping at the big store near the causeway bridge..  

 

Saturday Jan 31^st – Kathy leaves – Guy Arrives with Tim bits.. ha… quick trip to the beach then onboard to chit chat (Returned the rental car)

Jan 23-24 Hangin out with Elco!

 

Friday 23rd – Lagoonies for dinner – Tried to meet Eelco there but we were early and he was late..  Band was on!

 

Saturday 24^th – Fireworks at the new bridge..  hung out on Eelco’s boat.. met his family.. Great Night!  Earlier in the day we met Eelco on his boat for a  few drinks.

 

Jan 18th – 23rd - Found Shimpy’s

Jan 18^th – 23^rd – Getting to know St. Martin.. Found Shimpy’s…  SnowWhite.. Doctor Diesel (New turbo, cover plate removed from alternator.. etc), Sails off and repaired…Found lagoonies for Saturday night  fish and chips.. awesome!  French grocery store.. Paddleboarding..  Gas station beers..  French bakery..  Beach days at the airport!  $1.00 bus to Philipsburg…  Neat place!

Jan 17h Passage over to St. Martin

Jan 17h – 18^th – Passage over to St. Martin…  Sure is handy having Brendan on board..   Blew the alternator belt..  Check in was fun.. Lots of Mega Boats!  Cool Place!

Added notes 2015:
Had to rig up the alternator for the passage...  hole for the bolt was worn oval... knowning we HAD to get to St. Maartin to pick up my sister, we used broken off drill bits and filled the slot.
Part way over the belt started to come loose... we used some ropes as a tensioner to delay the ultimate demise
9 miles from St. Maartin the belt broke.. engine overheated..  sails up...
We changed the belt, refilled the antifreeze..
Second motor wasnt working.. wouldnt rev up...  ( found the problem later... think underwater!)

Motored in... cut off Steve Jobs megaship...  bought the captain a beer later at the bar!

Jan 17th - Im a PLUMBER !!! With Brendan!

Jan 17^th – Over to DDB to fix a plumbing issue..  reverse pressurized the suction and found 3 leaks.. works great now.. last beer with Gary!

Jan 16th –Nanny Cay – Fuel, water filters Hydraulic steering fluid..

Jan 16^th – Bitter End BVI’s… Checked in and Out..  We have until the weekend to leave for St. Maartin!   Motored to Nanny Cay – Filled with fuel,   more water filters…  Hydraulic steering fluid..  Fuel lines..  Ice Cream!...   Motored to Trellis Bay for Full Moon Party

Gary and Barb are here…  we did the full moon party with them.. so fun!

Gary got everyone doing the last to sit in a chair game.. too funny.

Jan 13th - 15th Showing Brendan Around da Islands

Jan 13^th – Put the turbo back together..  cleaned it out.. see some damage in it..

Sailed to Christmas cove..  Port engine stopped many times.. getting air..  Star engine wont rev… we make it.. barely!  Great snorkelling!

Jan 14^th – Switched over the fuel lines from each tank.. much better.. ran the port engine over to Caneel bay.. Star engine wont rev.. 

Into St. John..  BBQ lunch.. walking around cool town. Sailed to MAho bay

Jan 15^th – Hanging around Maho bay…  snorkelling, stand up boarding.. all is good!

Jan 12th Took JEssi over to Megans beach

Jan 12^th – Took JEssi over to Megans beach for some last minute fun..  swimming, Beach Pong, wrestling…  GREAT…  Got her to the airport with an hour to spare.. but flight was closed.. She got out about 5pm..  Had to stay overnight at a different airport which actually worked out better, it was free.. saved us $170..

Jan 11th Picked up Brendan at the airport

Jan 11^th – Rental car day…  All over the island..  Bought a bunch of groceries.. found the cool pizza place beside Cost you more..  J

Picked up Brendan at the airport..  we waited a long time find him.. we were on opposite sides.. I almost thought he didn’t make it when we heard “TIMBO!!!!”  ha.. that worked!

Jan 10th – Sailed to St. Thomas renting a jeep

Jan 10^th – Sailed to St. Thomas – Port engine stopped a few times.. looks like air entrapment.. Star engine wont rev past 1500..  going down wind so no problem. Sails up!  Walked through town and ended up renting a jeep beside a cool Harley bar..

 

Jan 8 –Caneel Bay to our fav spot, Maho Bay

Jan 8 – Sailed from Caneel Bay to our fav spot, Maho Bay…   Nice hike up to the lookout, then hit a ruins side trip in the way back..  really nice hike and Jessi really loved it..  From the ruins lookout we could see island dancer in her spot!

Little tour of the campground…  very strange being in the islands at a campground.

Back to the boat, Jessi and I went for a long 2 hour sup ride..  walked the beach also.. really nice..     For sunset, we all took the dingy for a little slow speed ride with Jessi at the helm..  A cool Pirate boat came in with square sails..  watched the sun set.. Jessi making dinner now… yumyum

Jan 7 Barefoot cowboy for lunch

Jan 7 – Leaving Great harbour this morning..  over to Rays boat to lend him a drill..  Went to take garbage to the normal spot and they have a new sign, go to the ferry dock… that’s where checkout is, so no problem..  Over to the ferry dock I get ride of all the old oil and garbage we had collected lately..  Going to check out, a sign said $15.00 each..  But they wouldn’t let me check out..  You are on a private boat, you need to go back where you were (the original garbage place)..  The officials there were listening to Rap music.. and only charged $1.00 total for the whole boat.. ha

Sailing over at 5’ish knots on jib and reefed main.. grabbed a ball at Caneel bay.. 

Into Cruz Bay, customs were no issue..  Over to Barefoot cowboy for lunch.. yumyum!!   $18 for 3 meats, 2 sides and a shot! Ha…   We got two of em!

Girlz down to the outdoor mall.. I hung out for awhile.. met a nice guy that actually bought me a beer..  Eventually down to the bar.. then to “togo” margaritas.. walked the beach..  more shopping..

Back to the dingy we cruised back but stopped at caneel bay resort..  wow what a cool spot!  Rockerfellow built it.. amazing..  we mixed in with the crowd and had an expensive beer and wine at the Ruins Restarant..  Girls went swimming at the beach, then went for a golf cart ride over to the fresh water pool.. we all met back at the dingy after dark..  Great Day!

Jan 6th – irish rovers unicorn song…

Left Pirateer bay at 7:30am, sailed over to West end… we pulled up with a huge storm just hitting..  we dropped the sails in the lee of the island, pulled up to the very first mooring ball, got it first try… at that precise moment the storm hit.. girlz ran to the cockpit and below…  worked great!..  10 mins later she’s all clear and we dingy to west end.. I updated kozyboat, had a beer while the girz shopped..  Into the grocery store we stocked up on the regulars..

Sailed over to White bay.. Ray texted as we were leaving, for ETA.. I estimated 12:06…  we actually made it at exactly 12:06..!!!

When a Big storm hit!! Ha.. again we got the ball on the lines and were down below when it blew through.. another 10 minute one..  and awesome the rest of the day..

Liz Ray, Jessi, Lorrane and I hiked over to White bay..  had some fun over there..

All back to Timbo’s boat for a ho down!!!.. great fun dancing to irish rovers unicorn song…

Jan 5th – Trellis to Priavateer bay..Ahhhhhh its CALM !!!

Jan 5^th – Trellis to Priavateer bay..

Way too windy in Trellis..  we set sail down wind..  found an awesome place on norman island..  PERFECTLY still.. in a blowing wind outside.. love this place!

Jessi and I  SUP into the caves.. very cool.. then came back and took the dingy to the caves for snorkelling..  brought food and saw 1000’s of fish..  quiet night, beautiful!

 

 

Jan 4th Trellis bay - Breakfest with Chuck and Carol

Jan 4^th Trellis bay – Put Day Dream believer to bed (Gary is coming in 2 weeks).. Fixed the Dingy floor, then stowed it on the deck..  motor away..

Changed the oil…  fixed the engine stop switch.

Chuck and Carol left today.  We sat with them for breakfast at the cyber café

Jan 3rd… Cane – Trellis..

Jan 3^rd…  Cane – Trellis..   Had lunch with Chuck and Carol before leaving..  at the Sailors Rest in Cane..   Fun telling stories back and forth..

Over to the fuel dock to fill up DDB with water and diesel..  Jessi did some swimming off the dock!!  Motored into winds back to trellis..  Allie’s ear has only gotten worse  this week… I called Kim in Trellis to help.. she brought  a car over and took Robin and Allie to Road town.. ends up it was infected..  2 medicines.. J!!!!

They met us in the channel in their dingy on the way back!! Ha

Chuck called on the radio, waters comin in… oops.. fresh water..  fractured line.. went over and had a beer and fixed that..

Jan 2 – Full beach day at Cane..  Rum tour, Glass Tour.. beach chairs, party back at Timbo’s..  AWESOME!!!

Jan 1st..

Jan 1^st..  Sailed to Cane Garden bay…  nice having all Three boats there..   Ran island dancer up on a reef for a few seconds… didn’t have my ipad maps, and the garmin didn’t show it… oops..  I think all is well…  !!!  Lets not do THAT again!

Cane is awesome..  into shore for some drinks.. then early to bed
