Dec 31 - Happy New Year!!!

 

Dec 31 – Girlz went with Kim over to Marina cay to snorkel.. Chuck and Carol were a little late, so I drove them over..  best reef in the BVI’s..   surprized everyone showing up there!!!..  grabbed robins flipper… she flipped!ha!   Over to Marina Cay for margaritas…  and some BIG DOGS for lunch.. too fun..

Back to the bay..  we stared at last resort for Chuck’s gig..  Then on the beach for new years..  great fires, tunes bands..  Had a lot of fun!..  Happy New Year!!!

Back to the dingy.. someone moved it slightly down the dock.. the lock which goes through the gas tank, flipped the tank.. dingy full of fuel… OOOPS!!!

Dec 30th – Chuck and Carol arrive

 

Dec 30^th – Chuck and Carol arrive in Trellis bay..  They were here about 6 hours when they secured their first gig..ha…  Last resort restaurant..  Went over and spliced all the wires together.. wasn’t long and we were drinking and eating for free for the night..  played until 11 or so!!

 

Dec 28 - walked a mile to find ear wax remover

 

Dec 28 – Sailed from Bitter End to the baths.. racing a pirate ship the whole way.. really cool…  awesome sailing downwind conditions..  No balls at the baths, so we decided to head over to fat hogs bay..  Into Penns landing for happy hour, and internet password..  Jessi and Allie picked up some books at the exchange..

Over to the grocery store.. excellent score here.. more $4,00 wine.. 30 bottles..

Lots of good food including ribs, chicken etc..  I walked a mile to find ear wax remover for Allie!..  Back to the boat for whole chicken rosemary and lime.. amazing!!    Great Day!!

Dec 27 - $25000 a week

 

Dec 27 – Girlz went SUPin to the shore and worked out..   later we took the dingy to Leverick bay for some shopping..really minimal stuff there..   12 of beer was $20..  24 beers $28…   there’s a deal!   A little rough ride back.. and small amount of rain..  no big deal..   Said goodbye to our friends from Plane to Sea.. they are heading to St. Maartin today.. have a couple letters to mail from them…

Had a beach day!  Took the SUP’s, dingy and coolers.. hung out at the Bitter end resort.. where others are paying $25000 a week..   Great!!!

Dec 26 – Plane to Sea

 

Dec 26 – Motor sailed back over to virgin gorda..  quick passage..  ran the watermaker the whole time.. but had the valve in the wrong positon.. so fresh water into the bilge!!! GEEZE!!!

Over to Saba Rock for drinks with friends Plane to Sea (Jim and Connie)..  great times.. stayed all night.. made some new friends..  final bill $20.00  Sweet!!!

Dec 25 – XMAS !!! Rented Scooters!!

 

Dec 25 – Rented Scooters!!  Allie drove too.. Jessi had her own..  over to Lulabye bay met some folks from Sweden..  Volleyball with Wilson!..  Later we drove to Cow Wreck Bay.. This is Awesome place….  Best ever!...  Ribs, Lobster..  Great drinks.. amazing view, amazing place…  drive miles down a sand road, with no signs, then it just appears… GREAT!

Dec 24 – Sailed from Trellis to Anagada..  Best sail.. so cool..  loved it!..  boat was going 7 knots at times!.. Big storm at dinner time.. had to run the engine just to relax the anchor…  50% of the boats on anchor let go.. ours did not!.. ha

Dec 19 – sailed over to water island to pick up Jessi!!!   Water pulsation bottle blew up!!!  Water everywhere..  got her fixed up quick!   Dingy lock cut at the dock.. new fuel separated was installed?? WTF??

Dec 15 - Christmas Cove Rental CAR!

 

Dec 15 – Sailed over to Christmas Cove..  dingy to STYC, then rented a car at budget..

Magens bay.. all around the island..  shopping at Kmart (sucked).. then a grocery store beside it wasn’t too bad..  back to the dingy after dark.. wet ride back to the boat.. hot showers were welcomed.

 

Dec 13-14 Maho Bay 5 HR HIKE!!!

 

Dec 13-14 Maho Bay – Nice place..not rolly..  Went for a huge hike across the island (reef bay)..  starting at the campground.. about 5 hours!

Hired Karen a lady on the beach to paint a picture of our boat… came out really nice!

Stayed overnight at Watermellon Bay.. sails up first thing and sailed down to Cannel bay..  A large cat showed up with lots of people wearing christmas stuff… We found out later it was the staff from St. John Tap House, Christmas party.. We were at their restaurant later in the day and our waitress still has wet hair…

Girlz went shopping as Dad found a tavern..  Vistor centre was cool.. have lots of maps and activities for the week..  Customs was simple and no issue.. welcome to the USA…  motored over to Cinnimen bay..  SUP got loose as we were swimming.. had to take the dingy to find it ½ mile away..!!

Took the SUP’s to shore..a CAMPGROUND..  checked out some of the tents.. really cool..  There’s a camp store and restaurant..  Back to the boat, we used a hailyard as to jump off the boat swimming..  Nice place!

Started the day fixing the dingy…  Kary helped me.. running good again!..  Headed to shore to take trash to a dumpster..  picked up some chicken cheese and bread..

Dingy wasn’t running good.. spent a day on the ball just reading and relaxing.. Allie and I washed the boat.

Dec 8th - Allie learns how to make an antenna!

Dec 8^th – Terrible night again.. wind it 30 knots..  Anchor holding perfectly!   Sir Francis Drake is huge swells on top of the wind generated waves.. crazy!..  I suggest staying put.. Robin wants to go somewhere else..  We have breakfast.. I sharpen every knife on board..  Then go outside..  Try to move the SUPs to the back.. No way man.. They will take my head off.. its crazy out..  Were staying!

Big day working on maintenance….

1)     Sharpen Knives

2)     Cleaned up all tools in Yellow room

3)     Made a tool box into the lower drawer…  COOL!

4)     Re-Wired the heads so they don’t blow the breaker .. COOL!

5)     Re-Wired the inverter and mounted it on the wall so it doesn’t cut the wires… COOL!

6)     Made an FM antenna – we now have local TUNES!!!

7)     Removed a damaged GFI socket in the master bedroom..  Allie helped

8)     Galley lights went out the other day..  Had Allie troubleshoot the problem.. wires got pulled off the back of the switch due to food storage..  (12V system)..She was proud to fix it and should be

9)     Stowed all the Wine and Beer we bought the other day.. Wine was $4.00 a bottle.. At PeterIsland it was $48.00  ha!!!

Dec 7 – Clint Eastwood and Grand Torino

Dec 7 – Terrible Night Sleep….  This place sucks! Ha!!..  It’s not well protected..  Wind is howellin through the hills and funnelling to us!..  Wasn’t sure if Allie’s scuba would be cancelled, but we went anyway..  The weather was pretty crappy, but she said it only rained when they were underwater, and it was cool to hear it!.. She did a 2 tank dive and loved it. Seems like a very good operation here on Peter island.. Recommend it!  Movie night.. got the big TV out and hooked her up to the laptop…

Clint Eastwood and Grand Torino… What a GREAT movie.. Allie loved it too!! She has never heard of Clint Eastwood!!!

 

Robin and I got a coffee and toast at the Peter Island Resort.. $6.00 for a capachinno which was really good.. Toast $5.00…. we scammed the internet from 9 am to 1pm.. 

The place is really nice.. took a tour.. rooms were $380 a night low season, $900 high.. that’s the cheap room.. they have one place at $10K a night low season…

Back to the boat and over to Ocean’s 7 for happy hour to scam their internet connection password 12345678… geeze..  well we got a drink anyway and now have the code!!!

Watched movies tonight…   Bengeman Button..  Allie really liked it.. good movie

Dec 6

Dec 6 – Great night sleep..  love this Great Harbour Peter Island..  Walked over to the resort in the next bay.  Found a dive shop and Allie signed up for a dive tomorrow morning!..  She is pumped!..  5 Miles hike around the island..  Very nice! Lots of hills!

Dec 5th Thursday - No FOOD !!!

Dec 5^th Thursday -  Woke up to rain (They don’t call it Rain Garden Bay for nothing!)..  Eventually it cleared up.. we dropped the dingy and went over to the gas bar to see about dumping the gas..  I’ve done this before.. I tell him it ‘might’ be bad..  not sure.. dingy running like shit..  He always takes it.. I always give him 5 or 10 bucks..   Refilled and BAMO… She runs great!!   How the heck we got so much water in the gas I don’t know.. the tank would never go down.. only up!!! Ha!!!

Pulled anchores just as a small storm rolled in.. we got out of the harbour as it started raining hard again..  Wind was zero so we motored towards west end for groceries..  Arriving to the harbour there are ZERO mooring balls..  we went to the far end to see about anchoring.. way to tight down there..  missed a ball coming out, someone bet us to it..  Then we see another.. head for it and it’s a mad dash.. another boat doing the same thing.. Allie curses in Spanish at them and give’s them bad karma..   As we turn around a big Cat asks us our name and says monitor 16, we will call when we leave..   heading back out the channel, another boat offers the same..  and is leaving right then..  The same boat that tried to steal the other one moves in..  Im motoring hard, but they are gaining..  The people drop the ropes back on the deck and wait for them to pass… then until as we get there… THANKS!!!  Great people!!

Shopping was good..  some prices are crazy others are awesome!!..  more $4.00 wine.. stocked up!   Headed over to Peter island where we found a great spot to anchor tight up the east end..  fairly deep 45 feet, but we have lots of chain, and put out both anchors per norm.  BBQ’d a great dinner, Fresh chicken from Puerto Rico.. macaroni elbows in the pressure cooker to make home made mac and cheese..   corn.. ummmm…     Did the dish’s with TONS of water…  Hot showers this morning leaving the water running.. this is UNHEARD of on a boat..   Fired up the genie this morning to charge up the batteries and filled the water tank until overflowing…

Watermaker is working GREAT!!!  Love it!!!

Starboard transmission is not going into reverse without a lot of effort..  rev to 3000 rpm, then back down to 1000 and it usually bangs in..  doesn’t sound good.. need to check the linkage, but the colour of the oil suggests otherwise..  Good news is it seems to work fine in forward..  So far!

Dec 4th – Wednesday - Transmission Maintenance

SUP ride to the grocery store for eggs and an Apple..  First store didn’t have any eggs..  No shirt or shoes.. won’t let me in.. they walked around and shopped for me..

Great breakfast on board..   Raining a lot these days..   but doesn’t last very long.

Cleaned out the inlet screen to the watermaker.. – clean..    changed the 5 micron filter.. looked perfect..  Turned on the machine and still no product flow..  traced the lines and found the product line rubbed on the alternator and put a hole in it!! Yes.. found the problem..

Went for a Swim..   Then replaced the line..  Works Awesome!!!..

Changed the oil in the transmissions..  Starboard tranny had dirty oil…   hard to get at, hopefully this was the reason…

Another big swim to get the grim and dirt off..  Allie and I swinging off the back of the boat with a line.. pretty fun!..  Robin had a good swim too!

Changed out the spark plugs in the dingy..  still runs like crap.. thinking water in the gas?

Internet is a little slow onboard.. so we went to shore and walked the beach looking for internet..  found a good signal and ordered a beer..  Updated Kozyboat.. Robin worked.. Allie did school work.

Robin and I went to find some groceries..  Walked into Bobbys market and found all their fridges dark..  no food in this place!!!   So we need to pull anchor and go to west end to provision..

Back to the boat for hamburgers on the bbq.. 

Brian dude from Toronto was playing at Myetts last night.. he remembered us from last year …  We all had a lot of fun singing.. Allie really enjoyed it!

Dec 3 - Cane Garden Bay

Dec 3 – Left the marina this morning.. we are getting really good at this dock thing!!  Didn’t hit anything! Ha!

Nice cruise over to Cane Garden Bay..  started raining about half way there.. big time!..  radar would be handy!  Anchor down 11am.. no issues..  love it..

SUP boards out..      Bill from Prawna came in the harbour..  we went over and chatted with him for a while.. seems the sailing courses are slow this year.. only 1 student.

Oh ya.. ran the watermaker on the way over..  isn’t working…. Geeze…   whats goin on now?

Kelvin from Cay Electronics was onboard for 6 hours today..  re-wired the watermaker to be manual..  Contactor was bad (weird)..  Anyway, they only charged me 2.5 hours and it now WORKS!!! YA!!!!  

Dec 1 - Slow Day!

Dec 1 – Friends from Puerto Rico left today.  Setting up xmas lights around the boat.. at the dock in Nanny Cay waiting for Cay Electronics to open Monday
